CycloTech Establishes a German Subsidiary
Strong Support from the Bavarian State Government
- CycloTech expands to Germany and establishes a subsidiary in Bavaria
- An important step for the technological future of the aviation hub
- CycloRotor technology sets new standards for propulsion systems
Munich, 30 January 2025 – CycloTech, a global leader in the development of CycloRotors, an innovative aviation propulsion systems, expands to Germany. By establishing a subsidiary in Bavaria, the company takes a significant strategic step towards the industrial scaling of its unique technology. The Bavarian state government expresses strong support, recognizing CycloTech’s presence as a key contribution to Bavaria’s technological future.
“With the decision to establish a German subsidiary, we lay the foundation for our next phase of expansion,” says Dr.-Ing. Marcus Bauer, CEO of CycloTech. “Bavaria offers the perfect combination of aviation and automotive expertise, excellent research and development, and a strong political and economic environment. Here, we have the ideal conditions to actively shape the future of electric flight.”
Bavaria Welcomes CycloTech’s Expansion
The Bavarian state government supports CycloTech’s growth in Germany. Former State Minister and economic policy spokesperson of the CSU parliamentary group, Kerstin Schreyer, who, together with Member of Parliament Maximilian Böltl, assists CycloTech in its establishment, highlights the significance of this step: “Bavaria is the innovation hub for aviation and aerospace in Germany – and with our Hightech Agenda Bavaria and the Aerospace Cluster, we provide an excellent platform for companies like CycloTech. The unique CycloRotor propulsion systems can give Bavaria’s aviation industry crucial momentum for the next generation of sustainable mobility solutions. I highly welcome CycloTech’s decision to choose Bavaria as the location for its expansion, and we will support the company in every way possible to establish this future technology here.”
CycloTech’s headquarters in Linz will continue to serve as its development and flight-testing center. The expansion into Bavaria is primarily aimed at strengthening research and industrial collaborations. The area around Taufkirchen/Ottobrunn offers particularly strong potential, thanks to its robust industrial presence, innovation strength, and scientific expertise – bolstered by a new aerospace faculty of the Technical University of Munich.
Maximilian Böltl, spokesperson for the Young Group of the CSU parliamentary faction, also emphasizes: “With CycloTech, a true game-changer is coming to Bavaria. This unique propulsion technology is a key building block for the aviation of tomorrow—not only in urban mobility but also across many other applications. Bavaria, with its Hightech Agenda, strong networks, and excellent research institutions, is the ideal location for forward-thinking companies like CycloTech. We will actively support this journey because our goal is to keep innovations in Bavaria and establish new technology leaders.”
Long-term Strategy with European Foundation
With its new subsidiary, CycloTech plans to expand its research and development activities in Germany and, in the medium term, prepare the serial production of CycloRotor propulsion systems. Beyond urban air mobility, the system’s precise controllability, high safety, and compact design open up numerous additional applications, including unmanned aerial systems, specialized logistics, military applications, and emergency medical services.
CycloTech is pursuing a long-term growth strategy with its expansion into Bavaria. “This is not a short-term move but a strategic decision for the future,” Bauer explains. “We are laying the foundation for a new era in aviation, where innovative propulsion technologies are essential. The combination of European industrial expertise, strong research partnerships, and political initiatives such as the Hightech Agenda Bavaria provides the best environment for a new European success story that will benefit the entire world,” says Bauer.
